You already have seniority at Mesa and will be giving that up to go somewhere else. Consider PSA. They are hiring DECs and will get you extra $$ for the CRJ type and the captain bonus, plus if you believe in the flow fairy, there is that too, and the flow bonus. But you will still be losing ground going back to initial (not flying actual aircraft and logging hours) and be on the bottom of the seniority list. If you think being an FO with low seniority, being a DEC will mean you are in the bottom of the seniority list until those hired with you catch up to your seniority.
I understand the quick loss of seniority. What I’m getting at is it’s probably gonna take longer to get to an ultimate goal by staying at Mesa than moving somewhere else. I’m only a few years in so it’s not like I’ll have wasted a lot of years. Right now we’re hardly upgrading on the CRJ, upgrade time is about 5+ years, and getting worse. But again, a lateral move is a last ditch effort.
