Yep, even the 777 was horrible. The huge blocks of off days raised the bar for volume and quality of household responsibilities. Plus the yellow center of an egg always got in the way during meal time.

Agreed. Even with the lowered trigger, it's still A LOT of work to fly a full line AND fly GS on top of that. Borrowing from the bank and vacation/training can help but that only goes so far, and in the case of the bank, you'll have to pay it back eventually. Plus, I've only had a month or two where I've flown enough credit to pay back the bank in years...that's a lot of work.
As a wise captain once said to young FO Gunfighter. "The problem with a GS is you have to fly it." If GS are going out regularly in a category, chances are reserves are filling up or getting close. In that scenario, you might as well fly GS and get your off days back. You are going to fly the ALV, so it might as well be
