I’d be more worried about Express moving through Ground. UPS has made great profit from 1day and 2day never touching an aircraft. If it isn’t already happening in FDX, it will. The Express drivers will be gone. FDX Ground drivers delivering all FDX packages. No more Fed Ex Express or Fed Ex Ground. Just Fed Ex.
I’ll need to find the quote but a couple years ago I remember Fred saying he had one last big goal to achieve before retiring. If it’s not a merger with another major company to compete with Amazon then I think it’s to merge Express and Ground into one lean corporation with better system efficiency. But what do I know, I just fly planes.
