I would argue that getting experience as a CFI is more valuable than just flying to the next $100 hamburger. As a CFI, you do a lot more than put ground reference maneuvers, slow flight, radio communications, etc together when doing pattern work when teaching a student to safely turn base to final and cross control a few feet above the ground as you touchdown for that crosswind landing. There is a lot more than just pattern work, especially when you get instrument, commercial, and multi engine students. Trust me, you learn a lot by having to teach.
I’m not saying I’d rather fly with a guy only
getting $100 burgers. I’d rather fly with the guy at ram air flying checks into every sort of bad weather possible or a pipeline guy. Not saying being a cfi is bad at all, just real life flying does a lot more for a pilots skills imo.
