Being seen in uniform is "that guy?"...usually its "that crew." It does look weird for a guy to eat by himself in uniform off-airport but I've had several meals a block or two from the hotel with the whole crew in uniform (mainly because you usually get to the hotel 15 minutes before said restaurant closes)... I can change and not eat (and pay $20 for room service) or run over and eat. If you're that embarassed to wear a uniform you're in the wrong line of work...and will continue to get strange looks from those of us who've flown military for months at a time without seeing a day out of uniform.
Yea this guy is so right. I wear my full pilot uniform everywhere I go because I don't wanna look like a dolt with pieces of Uniform. I've walked into a bar in full pilot uniform as well to order some food and a beer before it closed. I talk to ALLLLL THE GIRLS
At least take off the boards and crew badge. I can't believe you compared pilots to cops. We eat at the airport in full uniform, and they eat in their precinct in full uniform. Completely different.
