So with out the ability to pick up Japanese pax in NRT and take them to SIN or MNL you'll be stuck with flying 225 seat airplanes flying US passenegers. Certainly do-able. The NWA connection comes from 5th freedom routes picking up a Japanese national and taking him to SIN or NRT.

So every other airline besides NW is doomed because you have more Pacific route authority - Do you really even believe that? Its a big world out there - China, India, Brazil, Eastern Europe, South and Central America - I imagine we can serve a few of those markets even without a NW deal. There are probably even more markets out there, but I got a "D" in geography and thats all I could think of. Just as I assume that NW can serve markets other than the Pacific without Delta. Japan and 4 engine aircraft are so 70's.
