Is it written into the contract how crew on the MD would be treated during the phasing out process? Would they simply bid a new position or are they promised a spot on the potential new aircraft? Prioritized to keep their current domicile?
In the past (DC10, 727) it’s proven to be something of a boondoggle to be on a dying fleet. Lots of people end up being paid to sit home as they await training on a new airplane. Beyond that, it’s just a matter of bidding what your seniority can hold and getting in line with everyone else.
