SWA comes out ahead even with the rapid upgrade at Frontier? That surprises me a bit. I would have guessed that the Delta between Captain pay at Frontier and FO at SWA would grow so large over the 8 additional years before the SWA guy upgrades it would be impossible to catch up.
The problem with any of this math with SWA of course is that there are no real limits on how much you can fly so theoretically an FO could bust their butt and narrow the gap.
That’s based on a 25 yr career. Also, that was just based on pay rates, not profit sharing or the defined contribution. F9 has a great pilot group, and they’re smart on capitalizing on the peak travel days with their scheduling while minimizing expenses on the slower travel days. Being employed by a company owned by an investment group is a red flag to me, but these days what corporation isn’t run by executive’s sacrificing employee well being for shareholder’s desires? 🤷♂️
