This is dumb. How do you know he wasn't a local and just drove in that morning? How do you know he didn't get in late the night before on a delayed flight? Maybe he's just there for business, not socializing? Could be a hundred different reasons. This is a lot of judgement just because a stranger didn't want to have dinner and drinks with you before the biggest day of his career.

Saying someone didn't get the job because they slam clicked the night before is about as dumb as saying they didn't get the job because they weren't wearing a blue suit and red tie. The truth is that the hiring process is a complete mystery to all but those who run it and we make crap up to try and make it make sense. Because thats what pilots do.
