Don’t always require.
If you use over 100hrs in the sick year, then yes, doc note.
CPO has the option to make a good faith inquiry if below 100hrs…like if you are sitting short call, get assigned a trip, and then bang in sick, that’s gonna raise the CPO eyebrows because it smells of “I’m out of position”.
That very scenario occurred when the 747 was being phased out in DTW. It was down to only one departure a day, plane left and then had to air return…original crew would time out so they called in all the short calls…all banged in sick…turns out they were sitting at home multiple time zones away.
