That is not true, for the last 5 years of jumping on United I always listed at the gate. There is no other way to do it
if you are OAL,, they do not use MyIDtravel or ID90 websites, like AA and SWA and others.

In fact , even that varies a little. In HNL they tell me I can't list until 1 hr before departure. On the mainland I have been able to do it as soon as gate agent

shows up.
When they refer to international jumpseat, they're talking about true international - Europe/Asia/Central & South America.


The best explanation is that the Spirit jumpseater was checked in for a previous flight but got bumped.
