I personally think This was a sound business decision and is separate form the larger issue of pilot staffing that will manifest in unforeseen ways for in the coming months. This is to keep airplanes in the air for THIS week. Airline stays up and running and those of us working make extra cheddar. It’s a win-win. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
I agree. They might be realizing their stubbornness to open their wallets to prevent further meltdowns is needed.
Look how often they offer blanket 200% on the FA side for pickups and how selective it is on the pilot side. Bendo said that’s because it just causes pilots to pick up at 200%, making those coverage days green, and guys drop, putting them right back int their hole again. Maybe they are figuring it out that if you incentivize not calling out, you don’t need to scramble filling trips at 200%
