I’ll give the answer he wants…

Yes, you can get a Florida base in less than a year. I was in the July new hire class and I will be PGD based in March. However, I have already been involuntarily TDYd twice, the first time before I had even finished training. In the 5.5 months that I’ve been here, I have spent a cumulative total of about 1 month at home. Looking at the most recent data, it appears that in the numerous classes after mine, only 6 people have finished OE, so I’m guessing that come March, I’ll still be low man. The point? When it comes time to TDY out of PGD, guess who is going to be on the hook again.

I was super excited to be coming here, despite all the negativity on this board, but the first 6 months have really sucked. I have made the most of it by picking up a lot of extra flying and several VFNs, so these last 2 paychecks are nice, but I have no desire to do it again. I also have no desire to head back to training for the eventual transition to the 737.

On a positive note, I have moved up 30 spots on the seniority list so far, and 3 people in my class are interviewing with AA next month so you could move up the list quick, but that doesn’t really mean much if there’s nobody below you.
