I’m a little late to the party here but I’d like to comment on Delta’s place in the pecking order of desire ability first. We are NOT a wide body airline. We are a National airline that codeshares with foreign carriers. If a potential applicants desire is to fly heavy metal to distant lands this is NOT the place to set up shop. This along with our contract placing the $$ on relatively small wide body fleets means that the average pay a pilot will get over the course of his/her 30+ year career is inferior than elsewhere.
Frankly I’m shocked and disappointed that they dropped the requirement for a 4 year degree. This is going to bite this company in the tail feathers down the road. It does however demonstrate how dire the hiring situation is. Time to put this to our advantage.
