I may have missed this, but where exactly was this reported? It takes a suspension of disbelief to imagine someone with greater corporate ambitions and a resume indicating such would take a role with less responsibility, power and CV cachet.
In addition, you don't need work
for someone to be driven away. Working
with someone with an unfortunate combination of gross incompetence and hostility can make one look for opportunities elsewhere.
