A lot of times (but not always), they will start your “week” late in the day, and over the course of the 5-ish days, progressively get earlier sim periods. This can result in being able to leave; say on “Friday” mid-day to go home, and not have to report back until “Monday” mid-day. It effectively allows an extra night at home.

Again, it’s not always, but it happens more often than not.
