you can upgrade FO’s if you can’t keep enough to staff the current airline let alone growth. No upgrades means stagnation except for the bottom quarter of the list which will just be a revolving door.
You seriously expect to keep new FOs at training and first year pay in this environment? A lot are going to see the writing on the wall at the regionals and jump to NK for a new type rating to enhance their resume while keeping apps out and updated for someone that will provide them with a living first year wage for their family and immediate insurance coverage. You’ll lose them to the first major that treats them kindly.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
