Investment isn’t a job. I don’t have a boss or report to anyone but myself. Ive taken a lot of well calculated risks over the years and the result of that work is not needing this job at all. EJ, I think you're missing the point big time.
Whether your alternative source of income comes from investments, passive income, or slaving away yourself or for someone else, some of us are saying that as a career pilot at a major/legacy airline, one should not have to depend on that alternative income to feel somewhat financially secure. That should just be gravy as a result of being a highly compensated person.
Yes, of course having an alternative source of income is smart, and is a sure way to true financial freedom, but in this field, as long as one enjoys the finer things in life in moderation, one should not have to end up being uncertain about their retirement future.
