Even after two MAX crashes and the groundings starting in other parts of the world for the MAX, DOT Sec Elaine Chao purposefully flew a Southwest MAX from Dallas to DC in order to show her full confidence in that airplane. Amazing how much in bed the FAA, Boeing, and the DOT were.
No different than the DOT Sec who stood on the graves of the ValuJet victims in the Everglades and announced "I've flown ValuJet, ValuJet is safe airline, as is our entire aviation system."
