leaving DEN yesterday, I talked to a person on the shuttle from UAL TK to KDEN(DIA)…that person had just interviewed with 3 other spirit pilots that day and told me that 4 from that persons newhire class from 7 months ago had already left…3 to UAL and 1 DAL.
Is this bad intel? Admittedly, I had just finished my Captain upgrade checkride and wasn’t totally hearing everything this person said during our 5 min conversation from our drop off point to door entry into the terminal.
I thought all was well on the spirit wings front….
I wouldn't say things are not well here, but in terms of pilots leaving, we are struggling because there are not enough reasons to stay. If you were in DEN, they most likely were commuters to LAS. If they could get hired at UAL that would be enough of an improvement by itself to be worth it. We just need to improve a few things in the contract and I think we could be competitive again.
