I clipped a backpack with 17" laptop, ipad, etc on to the ebag with that carabiner and it worked great. No issues with the strap, either. I had the 'clip' end of the carabiner always attached to my backpack and would just put the J hook part under the top handle of the ebags. Then I could just slide the J hook part on or off with no issue. Never had a problem
