Default Spirit / Difference Pass question

Quick question about the Spirit / Difference Pass. In the FAQ section is the remark:

An individual may not travel as a nonrevenue passenger on any flight in the same market on the same day they hold or have ever held a confirmed reservation, including the Delta Difference Pass, in that market (whether the reservation is ticketed, not ticketed, or previously canceled.)

Does this basically say no jumpseating/non-reving at all the day of travel? I'm trying to go ATL-JNB at some point but not sure where I'm coming in from yet prior to ATL. Might be out of Florida, might be out of somewhere else. Do I have to commit to that choice when I book the pass or can I book the pass ATL-JNB and make the decision later? I could book it from one location now and try to change it later, but worry that if I try to change it later, they won't have the availability of flights or something and I need to lock it in now. Anybody done this pass and have any info? Any trouble with the pass, changing it, or the experience of using it?

p.s. And yes, I've reached out via email to Delta with this question and haven't heard anything back yet.

Thanks
