I just want to make sure I finish. I read an article about the top reasons people don't finish their PPL, and one of the biggest is the medical exam. I'm doing that first so I know if I'm wasting my time or not.
If you are considering a professional career, please get a First Class medical certificate. That way you can be sure of your employability before you start. A student pilot usually gets a Third Class medical, but there are some medical problems that would let you get a Third Class that would not be acceptable for a First Class. Also, be aware that not all FAA doctors can give you a First Class, so check first.
