The reason why no one is bidding there for DAY is first, the lines are completely un-commutable. You have to travel a day prior and a day after even if you're the number one line holder there. That means if you have a 4-day trip, you'll have to spend 6 days total with your trip as well as commuting. If you add that up as a line holder for 4 trips, that's about 24 days out of the month for work-related activities. Also, there's nowhere around Dayton that is desirable to live. At least our former base in Columbia, SC had Charlotte and Charleston, which were about a 1hr and a half away. That was enough time for our 2-hour reserve call-out. The third reason why it's bad is that unlike the other bases, having a line in Dayton can look like a bunch of day trips, 2 two-day sequences, 1 three-day sequence with a day trip at the back end. It's efficient for the company, but not the pilot commuting there. If you want pilots to bid for Dayton, here are good options: give them commuter hotels, positive space flights to work, and paid moving expenses if you choose to live there. $1500/month is nothing for a Captain who is paying $800-1000 just on commuter hotels due to how the schedules are structured. Also, you just need 1 junior man to make $1500 with our 3x option to any normal credit day.
