Say I get awarded A320 NYC out of indoc but I want SLC. (Any plane but prefer A320) How does the process work for getting back to SLC. Is it easier to switch planes or stay in the same plane or does it not matter? Meaning Is it easier to bid the A320 and transfer to SLC on the A320 or does it not matter say I was a NYC 7ER Pilot it would it take just as long waiting for the next AE (minus going through training again) What is a realistic time frame of me having to commute before I can be awarded a different base?
Bid a SLC airplane, wait for an AE and you will hold SLC. Don't mess around with the 7ER or trying to trick the system. All you'll do is go through world of pain commuting, waiting for training, long training events, longer seat lock, list goes on.

As a 7ER pilot commuting from SLC, bid 320/73N/220 and just wait to bid to SLC on an AE. It won't be a long wait and certainly you will not get to SLC any faster bidding something not in SLC (717/7ER) and trying to use the 1 year seat lock release rule. You'll get to slc even later with a longer seat lock on airplane #2 and be gone longer with all the training. Keep it simple. Don't over think it.
