Both airlines will continue to operate independently during this time and Spirit will continue to operate under the name spirit (surviving brand) after it is merged with top gun. Ultimately Spirit/top gun will be merged with Frontier. What name will survive at that point is anyones guess. Who knows, it may be neither and we will rebrand under a completely new name. IMO it will be based on far more factors than just the fact that F9 will be 51.5%.
In short, spirit being the surviving brand when merged with top gun is referring to a step in the middle of the process. Not the final product.
Im sure there will be a lot of testing and surveying going on in the next few months. Spirit is by far the better known brand, the question is how tarnished is the name
