I can’t help but think Putin is going to try the same thing. Georgia, Crimea, Ukraine, what next…Latvia? Romania? Poland?
China into Taiwan? Egypt, Jordan, Syria into Israel?
I think everyone is very much aware that this is the beginning of a possible push into NATO states. Which is why everyone is holding their breaths.
On the plus side:
- The Ukrainians are putting up a good fight
- Russians citizens are publicly protesting, at great risk to themselves. This invasion is very unpopular at home.
- NATO is holding firm and bracing for incursions
- The Russian economy is tanking at the hint of sanctions
In this game of chicken, Putin has a lot of reasons to flinch.
