lCal's Concessionary Contract '02 went into effect April 1, 2005.
DH pay @ 50% from April 1,2005-April 1, 2006.

Lot of 77 FOs went to 756 Captain because pre-FAR 117 lCal did a lot of DH to/IRO back trips (2 or 3 pilots required over, 3 or 4 pilots required back). Pre-117 the max hours were 120/month with no rest required on the back end, and pilots could easily make 150+/month doing DH/IRO back trips.
They know you can fly, and ANYONE applying needs to upgrade ASAP since they are very close to 2 year 73 Captains again, and they want to know you've already had those "Oh shi*, I made a bad decision but survived and learned from it." moments already with a RJ, not on an icy night going into La Garbage with a 73.
They want to see that you care about something other than yourself. Show them some volunteer time, be it Young Eagles, or at an animal rescue center. When someone comes in and they tell me once a month they go down and clean cat ****, that tells me they're not just a self-centered pilot but have a bit of humility.
Or, as I’ve found with my informal polling of f/o’s I fly with, they’re playing the game United wants played. As soon as they’re hired, the days of volunteering at the lepper colony are over. I wish pilot hiring was based on pilot stuff, not touchy-feely stuff, but them’s the current rules.
