I wonder if these folks are as quick to educate their brother and sister pilots about the contract, their history, and unity. I’ll bet that those things get short shrift because that’s all “union stuff”, but they’ll gladly break out the can of verbal whoop ass for silly uniform violations. It’s all about where we put our focus. Is it on the company, or the profession? Most times it’s one or the other. Guys who waste time and energy worrying about a uniform piece on a walk around are typically the same guys who waive the contract, or make no effort to actually know what’s in it. Yes, the uniform specs are in the FOM. But are you really going to sacrifice cockpit cohesion and a good working environment over a stupid pullover? There’s lots of hills to die on. This one wouldn’t even make the top 100 for me.
