If you "can't commute" at all then you'd be taking quite the risk assuming you're giving up a good status quo.

Even if you get it in training, you can always get displaced unexpectedly and for quite a while. That isn't likely to happen with current projections, but it could. Also there is no way to predict what your "class drop" will have. Some drops have no ATL slots.

The magnitude of changing careers is massive, for good or for bad. I suggest you accept the possibility that you could have to commute for a bit. If you can't under any circumstance, think hard about making the jump.
