We were taking back the entire billion dollar Taj Mullin (finally) and there were plans for an eventual dedicated 6-8ish gate expansion on the other side for international. There was even some chatter about finally getting full customs in A which was the design all along, but some say the right palms weren't greased back then. Even without that, a fully operational A terminal with all the gates back provides far more flying than is necessary to justify a pilot domicile, even with a fractured and redundant fleet deployment. 320 seems more likely to be first, followed by the 220 and a small 330 base probably a year or three later.
The scuttlebutt precovid was that they had hired a chief pilot for BOS, and crew resources wanted to open an ER base, but network wouldn't commit to the time period to allow it to pay off - the reason being that they thought BOS growth trajectory was on its way to justifying a 330 base more than an ER base. Of course, this comes from the same sources that had said NYC and LAX bases for the 220 before the AE that opened NYC and SLC. Based on that, I would predict BOS 717 because no one would see THAT coming, or maybe that would be too predictable, so I have no idea what will really happen.
