Ahhhh the dca base.

It was always rumored along with IAD but neither have ever happened.(now IAD is gone) I wouldn’t go so far as to say never but you would need jetblue to change their idea of what a “base” is and how big it should be. They only like large bases whereas it seems like Spirit and F9 will open one anywhere.

Could they make it one yes would it help them yes will they do it…..probably not. I live in the area and with the heavy 190 operation and no reserves you can make some extra money when they call you because once again something is delayed or broken and they need to fly reserves in.

The other issue is unless you get more slots there is no growth at DCA.

Having said all of that the largest number of crew members who live in a area that is not a base is the DC area. I do think jetblue should revisit its base size decisions and start looking at areas you could open one (yes I know it takes away from the current bases) but that’s one major advantage other companies have over us, vs just the east coast and LA.

I think BWI is scheduled to open back up but I think that will just be BWI-BOS

In the end don’t come here for a DC base, try United or American
