It's definitely a tricky spot for Putin apologists.

I've been surprised at the weak response to Russia. Putin would probably have stopped with the eastern provinces had there been a more robust response. But now, he's probably figuring that he can take all of Ukraine without any military response from the west.

Again, Yalta Conference. Get familiar with it.
Since you have a comprehension problem, let me be clear. Without western (read NATO) boots on the ground, Russia is likely to eventually take all of Ukraine.
I never stated that the west should stand down. I did say that I don't want US boots on the ground because that never ends well for the US.

Just because I look at this conflict through all sides, as Sun Tzu ascribed, does not make me a Putin apologist. I have posted why Russia has made claims to Ukraine, which have been ignored by western media. I realize you're not going to look beyond the propaganda that you're spoon fed, but you seem to enjoy blissful ignorance.
To be clear, I have never stated that Putin's claims to Ukraine are legitimate.
