Insurance hack for the HSA is max it out every year, pay all medical costs out of pocket, transfer most of your Optum HSA money(Transferring all closes your account) into a Fidelity HSA, and invest your HSA money in practically any way you'd like vs Optum Bank's limited offerings.

Using this hack will yield you several hundred thousands to millions(depending on investment returns) in your HSA at retirement. Plus you have all your out of pocket medical expenses receipts that you can use to withdraw from your HSA anytime tax free.

Also to add since you're paying all expenses out of pocket another technique is to tell the billing desk you don't have insurance in order to get substantially lower out of pocket costs. Trade off is UHC doesn't no what you've spent so no credit goes toward your Out of Pocket Maxes. Wouldn't recommend this technique on big ticket items like child birth.
