Other than making training depts lives easier they still have to take the full course so not seeing an advantage compared to hiring RJ pilots. Also if they passed a 121 course before they would kinda know how things go (firehose, cooperate to graduate)
I'm not sure how much the type of aircraft or airline matters, but it does seem like a recent training event is helpful in getting hired at the majors. I know a lot of pilots that have gotten hired shortly after going through upgrade or getting a new type rating.
