If a random twitter account posts something with an accusation of some sort of immoral behavior with evidence that is circumstantial at best, should you automatically lose your job? And with the fact that it went "viral" he can certainly argue that management has already been primed to terminate him before he gets to defend himself, as I'm sure his union contract allows for.
You can be fired (and have it stick) for first offense for many things... drinking on the job, assault, sexual assault, commiting a serious crime, conspiracy to commit a serious crime. Union will duly represent you, and you'll still be perma-fired.

Does this rise to that level? Not quite, but I bet he probably gets canned and stays that way. Due to the notoriety the company will pull out ALL stops to ensure they don't have to answer some activist campaign demanding to know why the guys still works for them.
