The point is, if you really want UPS, don’t stay stagnant. Build your resume to reflect what they’re looking for. I took a big pay cut going to an ACMI but in the end it paid off in droves. It’s frustrating to hear people make excuses why they don’t want to move from their comfort zone and expect UPS to call. It’s an entitled attitude that’s going to get them passed over. There’s a new hire lost published every month of 30 or so new pilots and the VAST majority came from an ACMI, followed by military, followed by other major carriers and, lastly, one or two corporate people and a single regional flier. When you hear your friends friends friend from Skywest got hired at UPS, that’s an absolute anomaly and to bank on that happening to you is poor money management. Get Atlas/Omni/Kalitta time or United/AA if you want your chances to increase. Build up your resume with safety committee/ACP, etc positions. Volunteer. They’re looking for someone who has all the minimums and then has a multi-dimensional resume.
