Obviously the goal is to move on from the regionals and I would leave if I do find that but I doubt this will happen. The owners make way too much money to just close the doors here.
The money they have made in the past is irrelevant. They are not going to be able to keep CAs at these rates and without enough CAs, they can’t get enough new FOs upgrade eligible to keep going.

Major airline hiring has greatly depleted the ranks of regional CAs. At one time, the ticket to simply open the door for an INTERVIEW at a major was 1000 TPIC. That’s no longer the case. But it takes 1000 hrs of 121 SIC (basically) to become upgrade eligible. Every CA leaving with less than 1000 TPIC has not been in the seat long enough to get their own replacement eligible. Worse yet, legacies are interviewing and giving high time FOs approaching upgrade eligibility,
and ULCCs are taking guys/gals with ~500 hours in the right seat.

Regional CA numbers are in a death spiral. Basically, if you want to be a DEC and have anywhere over 900 SIC you can probably get a big bonus at most regionals. Heck, Skywest is giving bonuses plus BASE OF CHOICE plus longevity credit for years of previous 121 service to anyone they can make into an instant CA.

For new hires, this has become like a game of musical chairs, and forget about flows or guaranteed interviews and all that other cr@p because you don’t want to be the guy/gal with no chair when the music runs out. It’s already run out for some regionals and the proverbial fat lady is tuning up for most of the others.

So get in, get your type, get consolidated, and start IMMEDIATELY to put out apps for the next level. Then fly your butt off to get all the hours you can to make yourself as desirable as you can before the music stops. Are you likely to get picked up by a legacy immediately? No, although if you happen to be the right gender or have picked the right parents it certainly isn’t beyond the realm of possibility. But one of the ULCCs? Entirely possible.

So go there and pick up an A320 or B737 type, you know, something other than a CRJ-200 type,

and you’ll not only be getting more pay, you will have dramatically increased your odds of going to a legacy sooner rather than later.
