He and others like him attend UAL "influencer" events and training. He has posted at Aviate which was certainly done at the behest of the company. Whether he is being paid by them or is just getting perks and privileges, it is extra-contractual work that is based on his PILOT position. That's a non-starter for actual union members.
What happens down the road if anyone ever gets a spine about contract negotiations? Will he be posting videos "on behalf of the pilots" (and actually on the orders of the company) apologizing for job actions?
The conflicts of interest here are obvious and totally avoidable.
His newest post is inside info on aircraft crew rest accommodations. Maybe next week he can show everyone how the cockpit door operates. Security anyone?
It's probably time for ALPA to update professional ethics for the times. Maybe professional standards should have a word with him about his activity - and his haircut for that matter.
