People seem to get hung up on the price of real estate, but buying California real estate made me more money than working at a major airline for my first several years. Treat it like an investment. There is a reason real estate is more expensive in California (because there is more demand for people wanting to live there).

Yes. Everyone please choose to live California. Happy cows AND happy people. Utah is no good. Terrible to raise a family. You can't smoke pot. Yes you can buy beer any day at a store or bar, but you have to go to a state liquor store to buy the stronger drinks, and they're closed Sundays!
We don't have warm water beaches like San Francisco, and you should see the homeless in west SLC. Don't get me started on the crime in West Valley. Did you know snows too? Barf.
If you're already in CA, stay put, grass isn't greener (brown in winter). I also spoke with all the other Mountain West states, and they all agree that they suck and wish they were as nice as California.
