Signing bonus is a no vote for me.
If the company offered a choice of $50K in retro, or $100K in signing bonus, you would vote for the retro?
The difference (to pilots) is semantics. To the company, it could mean huge tax consequences. That is why companies prefer a signing bonus.
It is the amount that matters, not the name. Companies benefit by delay tactics, no matter the end game.
