I have a family with kids at home. I've done some greenslips here and there, when I could balance QOL at home. Mostly reserve GS with PB days, because I forecasted I'd work the same number of days that month whether I accept or decline some of those offers. But to suggest we don't need to fret about COLA increases because GS are plentiful (not universally so) is missing the argument. That GS earns me 8.5% less than it did last year. I don't think folks are saying, "they just raised my rent, I cant afford it. If I don't get a raise asap I'll default and get evicted!" If thats the case, yeah pick up some overtime to pay the bills and fix your finances. But thats still no enduring solution. Its called over-time for a reason. We need raises.
And a pilot lamenting they don't have freedom to pickup overtime because they have kids/spouse/commitments etc aren't then hypocrites for posting on SM. I don't waste time on SM when I'm needed for family/commitments. Most of the time that I'm on APC, I'm in a hotel, on a trip, or general downtime when my family is busy or I'm on the throne! How is that the same as saying "honey I just picked up a 3-day GS over the 4 day off stretch I had off. I know I just got off a 4 day, and this will give me 1 day off at home over the next 12 days, but..inflation! You're cool with it?". I know how my spouse and kids react. Spouse
