They are building the line values extremely high so they can force more folks onto reserve. I think this is also done to cover the fact that many of the folks that are waiting for IOE will not be finishing in the OE blocker alotted timeframe. So, even though PBS thinks they will be available for a line or reserve, they will actually not be legal to fly a trip for weeks after their OE blocker days end.
The flying in ORD is predominently domestic hub to hub + MCO and HI (HNL,LIH,OGG,KOA). So your domestic layovers will be at those locations. There is a pretty good mix of trip length on the domestic stuff from 1 day out to 4 days and a few 5 days. The 5 days ususally have an island layover to lesson the pain! For Intl we have LHR, ZRH, and DUB right now. Supposed to get more over the summer months, but that seems to change like the wind. For May a majority of the LHR trips were changed to 6 day trips ORD-LHR-EWR-LHR-ORD, which some folks like, but I think most don't so I am guessing those will go more junior than intl has been going recently. You will not see ZRH on reserve. On the FO side they have also had some IRO trips that cover other base stuff. I think most recently they had a DH to IAH to cover the IAH-SCL trip and DH back. Even though those types of trips are usually the IRO I think they go fairly senior as with "fakes" it bcomes a positive space commute on both ends of the trip.
I am a Cap lineholder, but I can tell you that in both seats we have had a large amount of PP this month, so reserves are frequently completely used. Easter weekend is going to be ugly! Started putting out the Saturday open trips at 100% add pay yesterday and several are still sitting there in open time with 100% right now in both seats!! I did a 2 day last week and had an FO on day one 8L6'd in from DCA with a DH back from IAH. Then on day 2 they Deadheaded in an FO from ORD-IAH to fly the second day with me. (might be me as most FOs want off the trip anyway after a leg) All that to say that I think reserve utilization is high!
Awesome thanks! Is 80% a safe bet for a line? (FO )
