The -8F will be around for some time yes. But the 400s aren’t going to be around much longer. The 777F/777XF/A350Fs will be the growth frames moving forward in the freight industry. Outside cargo that required the nose losing capability of the 74 aren’t as frequent.
Depends on the military. They can't use -8 for now, and often would bulk out a 777.
If cargo prices stay where they are now and a 747 charter from HKG to the US goes for over 1mil per flight, the fuel costs don't matter much.
But I agree, -400 in the Express cargo sector won't live for long.
