So that’s 12-13 billion of debt on the balance sheet and they haven’t even painted/equipped NK planes, reworked the route structure, hired to staff widebodies, negotiated pay scales, etc.
Meanwhile, you can probably make a pretty decent return on investment leasing out prime gate space. I’m not saying it will never or could never happen, but your logic has some expensive holes in it.
Airlines don’t pay anywhere near list price for planes. While actual prices paid are rarely, if ever, made public, there are some benchmark numbers out there. Here is one example:
