Late 50's, military time from years ago, recent Part 121 time, 4k+ hours.
Submitted an app to United, was invited to interview within 2 weeks.
Submitted an app to Alaska, haven't heard anything in 2 months.
No internal recs at either.
Same numbers provided to both.
Only difference was the cover letter (AS wanted one, UAL didn't).

It's so hard to say, and such a crap shoot. When i got hired here I had my apps in at both.. couldn't get a call from United, but got called and hired by Alaska. I kept my United stuff updated for 3 years and had a buddy do that "chief pilot referal" thing and still never got called by United.
If you're deadset on working here then try and get a chief pilot meet and greet, and pay some money to attend a career fair.
