Regional FO here looking for greener pastures and Atlas has always been a top choice. I've been flying a RJ for a few months and racked up around 200 hours. I know Atlas is hiring wet ATPs on the 737 and it looks like they're wanting 500 turbine for the wide bodies. Has anyone had an experience with getting offered a wide body class with sub-500 hours of turbine/121? I'm not super interested in the 737 because of the lack of ability to fly. Worth it to apply now or just wait it out until I get the 500 hours (should have it this fall) to get offered a wide body class? I could see myself at Atlas for the long haul but wouldn't want to turn down a CJO if all they can offer is the 737.
As an Atlas widebody Captain…I don’t want you on my airplane. You obviously feel entitled to a widebody…even though you will gain FAR less experience overall than if you were on the 737. That’s not a mentality I want on my flight deck.
If you want to be at Atlas for the “long haul”…why would it make a difference to you if you spent 2 years in the 737? You would gain Boeing experience….experience on a bigger airplane than the RJ you’re currently flying…get WAY more PF legs..have better QOL based on the advancement of seniority on the 737 vs the widebody fleets…AND you would be gaining seniority just the same as if you were on a widebody, thus making your long term career bidding/advancement potential the same or better.
You feel you are too good to fly a 737. It’s obvious in your post. You don’t want to start at the bottom(as you see it). We don’t want you here.
