I found DAL to be a great commuter base when I was still commuting. Between Love and DFW there were a hundred ways to get to the metroplex. The DART rail between DFW and Love takes about 45 minutes and costs just a few bucks. Sometimes I even stayed at hotels near DFW because they were cheaper. Still easy to get to/from Love.

This in contrast to Hobby, which is expensive and difficult to get to from Intercontinental. But I suppose if you aren’t planning to use other airlines to commute (I always used AA and UA) it doesn’t matter as much.
