You are aiming at early retirement - I would get that earlier class date and ask your previous employer for a reasonable payment plan.
This is something that our new hires (really everyone on the seniority list) need to start accounting for. There is an excellent chance that 2023 will effectively have something less than 13 pay periods. If you are a June or July hire this year, you probably won’t have the opportunity to make back much of what you lost on first year pay before we are walking the picket line to support the Teamsters. It’s impossible to know how next year will go at this point, but everyone should have a plan for how they will make due not having UPS top off your bank account every two weeks. Hopefully, UPS caves and makes all of the Teamsters dreams come true before a strike happens. I’m skeptical that will happen.
