The problem is the pilots are taking a big pay cut each day. Upgrading to captain and getting the higher pay rate is probably the only way to make a good enough living for those junior folks on property (not including senior WB FO's). Might as well upgrade quick if you're ready and get better retirment account too and higher international ovrd. Every bit counts in these difficult economic times.
I too long for the days where airline pilots earn a good living for the work we do. Don't let anyone tell you we barely work or the job is so easy... it is not easy by any means and takes a special kind of person to do this day in and day out.
